1 litre of tears..

….you’ll be crying at least that much =[

I decided to add a Recommendation to the blog’s ever expanding content…

I watched this Japanese drama well over a year ago.. and still whenever I hear ‘Only Human by K’ – I want to cry, now some may say that is strange but ‘1 Litre of tears’ is truly a touching show – the reason I decided to bring this series up now was because I recently watched the film version which was also fantastic.. so what is ‘1 Litre of tears’?

‘1 Litre of tears’ is based on the real-life struggles of Aya a 15-year-old girl who suffered from an incurable disease called spinocerebellar degeneration where the victim keeps their mental capacity but slowly begins to lose physical control of their body to the point where they cannot walk, write, talk or eat.

Aya lived life to the full until her death at the age of 25. This drama is based on the diary Aya kept writing until she could no longer hold a pen. The book that later followed entitled “One Litre of Tears” has sold over 1.1 million copies in Japan alone.

Aya’s only wish was “to live.” By carefully depicting Aya’s earnest desire to live, and the love of her family and friends the drama, “1 Litre of Tears” wishes to deliver her simple but strong message: “Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing.”

I sat and watched the series in two days.. I done my share of crying too >_< I told several people about it straight away and everyone so far has enjoyed it and have even said it changes the way they feel about life and family.
The drama itself adds in new things to the story for example a romantic relationship, but overall I believe it managed to capture Aya’s message.. I strongly recommend this series to anyone and everyone.
